5G testing in India by Airtel and Huawei

Bharti Airtel (Airtel) India’s largest telecom operator and Chinese tech giant Huawei recently conducted successful testing of 5G under a test setup. The trial was conducted at Airtel’s experience centre in Manesar, Haryana.

One of the main reasons for the success of the test trial was achieving a user throughput of more than 3Gbps. This is the highest measured throughput for a mobile network in 3.5 GHz band with 100MHz bandwidth and end-to-end network latency of approximately 1 msec, the company said.

“We are moving quickly to begin collaboration towards 5G interoperability and development testing (IODT). We look forward to work closely with our partners for developing a robust 5G ecosystem in India,” said Abhay Savargaonkar, Director-Networks, Bharti Airtel.

AT&T had recently announced the list of cities in USA which would be receiving 5G soon. 5G testing is also currently undergoing at 2018 Winter Olympics held at Pyeongchang. The 5G race has already begun around the globe.

5G is more than 10 times faster than 4G will be a key instrument of IoT. Application of 5G goes way beyond normal conventions. One day, the technology will be able to connect artificial intelligence, cars, robots, drones and much more.
