Google brings a major update to its payment service app Tez
The new major update Google brought to its payment service Tez is allowing its users to pay their utilities and bills from their app.
Tez launched in September 2017 for Android and iOS used UPI (Unified Payments Interface) helping their users to make payments between bank accounts. Though it faces competition from Paytm, MobiKwik and others, since its launch Tez has become widely popular and has more than 10 million downloads.
Diana Layfield, vice president of product management at Google mentioned in her blog post:
We’ll start with support for more than 80 billers, including national and state electricity providers, gas and water, and DTH recharge. These include billers like Reliance Energy, BSES and DishTV, and in total will cover all states and major metros in India. Tez also supports Bharat BillPay system, which lets you fetch the latest bill from your providers.
The feature is available under the “New payment” tab as shown in the below video.
Further, it’s offering a scratch card that can get you to win up to Rs.1000 for every new biller you pay this month.
The popularity that Tez is picking up its competitors is sure to feel the heat especially when Google has introduced these much-needed features.
